A Merthyr-based football club is the latest team to benefit from a sponsorship deal from Trade Centre Wales.

The UK’s fastest growing used car company has sponsored £1,000 to Merthyr Saints FC which will help towards developing its first and junior team.

Under the new management of Rhys Llewellyn, 23, the club will use the funding to support training costs, meaning aspiring talented footballers of the future can train for free.

Merthyr Saints FC has been a part of the Welsh Football League since 1995 and has gone from strength to strength every year, including ten consecutive seasons spent in the Welsh League Division 2.

A partnership for the youth

Neil Clancy, Club Secretary said: “Everyone at the club is thrilled to welcome Trade Centre Wales on board as a sponsor and we look forward to a long-anticipated partnership with such a well-known company.

“We have huge plans to develop our youth sides, and with our new manager in place, we’re really looking forward to attracting the best players in the area and developing a team Merthyr can be proud of.

“Under the guidance of an up and coming management team, and with the help of this sponsorship from Trade Centre Wales, the hope of getting promoted back into Welsh League Football is looking like more of a reality.”

Providing support for grassroot teams

Andy Coulthurst, CEO of The Trade Centre Wales, said: “We like to stay true to our roots, and we couldn’t be prouder to support such a beloved local football team.

“We are always excited to begin a new partnership, and we can’t wait to see Merthyr Saints FC develop its junior team and look to regain success in the team!”
